LALMEK Verkstad AB

LALMEK Verkstad AB was founded in 1976. Before that in 1972, Lars-Arne Larsson built his first muck removal system for his father's farm.

This were the start for a cooperation with DeLaval and thereafter development of many advanced hydraulic products.

In 1978 the first workshop building were ready for use and it's later extended 11 times. Today we have modern and appropriate premises of 5000 sqm workshop and 750 sqm office and staff facilities.

About the company

LALMEK is located in the beautiful Vätterbygden beside the lake Vättern, i Ölmstad approximately 10 km south of Gränna, along the old E4.

LALMEK is a manufacturing company who design their own products. We started our production in the mid 70's and has gradually grown. Today all parts are CAD-designed and manufactured in our own modern machine park consisting of CNC-lathes, CNC-mills, a laser cutting machine and several CNC-controlled press brakes.

The product that have made us well-known nationally and internationally, is our pressure reversing directional valve. The reliable function and easy operation has given us a leading market position in this particular valve.

We have since 1974 had a cooperation with DeLaval where ideas are developed into products. DeLaval has seen the needs that have been in agriculture and we have in cooperation with them, developed and manufactured products that have satisfied the needs. The products we manufacture in cooperation with DeLaval is a hydraulic muck removal systems (Hydromat), a muck removal system for open alleys (CleanMatic), an ergonomic pit floor for all types of milking parlours (ComFloor), a gate for collecting yard reduction (CowMover M) and a gate gently pushing the cows out of the cubicles (CowMover C).

In parallel with the DeLaval cooperation we manufacture custom hydraulic systems for industrial needs. Most customers are machine builders, but also eg lift table manufacturers, or customers building machines for its own activities. Through a close dialogue with the customer in the design stage of a machine or plant, we can often find an optimal solution with a mix of standard components and parts that we manufacture ourselves.

We always include a hydraulic diagram with each delivered system. It's a prerequisite for the CE marking and facilitates troubleshooting, service and maintenance.

In 2008 we expanded with a 2nd floor of 240 sqm of modern offices, a new conference room and assembly workshop for electronic designs.

In the spring/summer of 2009, the 1000 sq meters of new workshop premises will be ready.

Quality System - 5S

LALMEK has begun to implement a quality system called 5S - originally developed by the car company Toyota.

1	Sort Think about what I need to perform my work and remove and sort out everything not needed at the work area.
2	Systematize Create an organized workspace. A good way to determine where various things should be placed to divide into different categories depending on how often they are used. Frequently used things should of course be positioned as close as possible.
3	Clean Clean the workspace carefully - during clean lubricate and inspect.
4	Standardize Assign responsibility and establish a system to change old habits in the work area.
5	Create habit Creating habit - living with 5S.
